The victims of the Holocaust in Hungary were commemorated by lighting candles on Friday at the Jewish cemetery in Balatonfüred. The commemoration was attended by dr. János Fodor, pastor of the Roman Catholic Parish in Balatonfüred, Sándor Gabnai, pastor of the Balatonfüred-Dörgicse Associated Evangelical Parish, István Grósz, pastor of the Faith Church. The candles were lit by the teachers and students of the Lóczy Lajos high school and the Eötvös Loránd primary school.
153 Jews, including 26 children under the age of fourteen, were abducted from Balatonfüred in May 1944, and only 15 of them survived the deportation.
